  15. One thing people need to understand about publishing a book: the author
  16. isn't always responsible for errors that get into the published edition.
  17. Editors sometimes introduce errors also, and don't always return an edited
  18. manuscript to the author for review before publication.  I was surprised
  19. that the posted list of errata in Shafer's book was so short.
